Projects in Refugees & Asylum:

Refugee Engineers Database
Working with RAISE, a refugee-led organisation, I developed the Refugee Engineers Database (RED). RED is an online resource providing a central information point for refugee engineers and refugee agencies, and acts to broker links between engineers and employers. I secured funding, hired a software company to set up the database, built relationships with partner organisations, recruited a permanent manager for RED and oversaw the transfer of operations in summer 2007 to Olmec, which is better placed to take forward the work.

As representative of RAISE, I have been an active member of the PRESTO Partnership, an ESF Equal-funded development partnership of refugee agencies including the Refugee Council, Refugee Advice and Guidance Unit, Refugee Women’s Association and Education Action International.

Information Centre about Asylum and Refugees (ICAR)
I provided assistance in recruitment including interviewing for researchers. ICAR is an independant information centre that exists to promote understanding of asylum and refugees in the UK and to encourage information-based debate and policy-making.
